ADHD Skills Group
What is ADHD?
ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It's a neurodevelopmental condition that affects both children and adults and is characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and/or hyperactivity that interfere with daily functioning and development.
How does ADHD show up?
ADHD symptoms often begin in childhood and can persist into adolescence and adulthood. A combination of genetic, environmental, and neurobiological factors impact ADHD.
ADHD may present itself in 3 different subtypes: inattentive presentation, hyperactive impulsive presentation, and combined (both inattentive and hyperactive) presentation.
Young adults who have ADHD may struggle with time management, time blindness (difficulty perceiving or keeping track of time), difficulty focusing or sustaining attention, forgetfulness, distraction, losing things, impulsivity, difficulty staying present, among other symptoms.
